Hey there! Welcome to Goodley Living.
I'm a working mom navigating toddler life, a tech career, and the everyday chaos of modern life. Goodley Living exists for women like me: busy, ambitious, and craving real food, meaningful meals, and moments of calm in the middle of the chaos.
Here, you'll find:
- Quick, whole-food recipes: all recipes are either 30 minutes or less, five ingredients or less, or set-it-and-forget-it meals.
- Lifestyle inspiration for working moms: easy outfits, cozy home moments, and life lived in the thick of it.
- Practical tips for everyday life: so you can feed your family, host friends, and still feel in control.
What Makes Goodley Living Different
Cooking blogs are everywhere. Here's what sets Goodley Living apart:
- Heirloom-Inspired, Modern-Friendly Recipes: Recipes inspired by vintage cookbooks, updated for busy modern schedules. Timeless wisdom, simple shortcuts, and meals that actually work for your life.
- Real-Life Tested: Every recipe is shaped by real-world pressures: short schedules, hungry kids, tight budgets, and the need for meals that fit your life, not the other way around.
- Family & Crowd-Approved: Meals are designed to please everyone at the table, including picky toddlers. Many recipes can be doubled, tripled, or batch-cooked for easy hosting or leftovers.
- Pantry-First, With Purpose: Recipes use ingredients you likely already have. When special items appear, they're highlighted so you can swap or try something new.
- Whole-Food & Nourishing: Whole-food ingredients are prioritized, and classics get scratch-style shortcuts or cleaner updates for comfort food that still feels good.

For Working Moms Who Want It All
We know you can't have it all, but we can help make a couple things easier. This space is about making real life manageable, delicious, and joyful, so you can focus on what matters.

Background
I have never gone to culinary school. I am SURE that many of these recipes have a "better way" to make them. I am sure that in some of the photos, I am using tools incorrectly or have done the wrong cut. However, if you are here on the blog, you are probably not looking for the best way to cook something. You don't have the time to prepare a chicken for three days for a regular, Tuesday night dinner.
After college, I moved across the country to Seattle and had to teach myself how to really feed myself, after four years of dining hall food. Slowly, I began cooking from scratch, collecting cookbooks (over 150 now!), and finding deep joy in meals made by hand. I'd read cookbooks like novels, test recipes late into the evening, and tweak dishes until they felt just right.
In 2023, I became a parent and in 2024, I went back to work. Working motherhood reshaped my days. Goodley Living is my weekend passion project, my creative outlet, and my way of saying: even with a full life, you can still live beautifully, meaningfully, and with intention.
Whether you're here for a comforting soup, a thoughtful routine, or a new way to bring homemade food into your home, I hope this space feels like a breath of fresh air. You don't have to be a full-time homesteader or a trained chef to cook with heart. I'm so glad you're here. Let's make something good together.

What You Won't Find
To keep my focus on real, wholesome cooking, here are a few things that don't align with my recipe philosophy:
- Restaurant-style fine dining dishes that require hard-to-find ingredients or advanced techniques.
- Highly restrictive diet-based recipes (e.g., keto-only, juice cleanses, or extreme fad diets). I will call out if a recipe meets a dietary restriction to help you find the right food for you!
- Perfection. While I love the beauty of homemade everything (yes, even from my garden and bees!), most days I'm just trying to get dinner on the table before bedtime. You'll find whole-food recipes with realistic shortcuts because busy families deserve good food too.
